EE178: Device Electronics

This course reviews the fundamental principles, device's materials, and design and introduces the operation of several semiconductor devices. Topics include the motion of charge carriers in solids, equilibrium statistics, the electronic structure of solids, doping, the pn junction, the junction transistor, the Schottky diode, the field-effect transistor, the light-emitting diode, and the photodiode. Prerequisite(s): courses 145/L and 171/L. Enrollment restricted to School of Engineering and Division of Physical and Biological Sciences majors or permission of instructor. C. Gu, K. Pedrotti, W.
