AMS132, Winter 2013, Section 01: Exams

The course evaluation involves two exams, a midterm exam (Thursday February 14) and the final exam (Thursday March 21, 12-3 pm). Both the midterm and final exam will be closed-book, closed-notes, but you may bring up to two (letter size) pieces of paper with formulas on both sides. The final exam will be comprehensive. 


Note the revised allocation for the course grade: 40% for homework assignments, and 60% for the two exams (with 25% to be used for the lower exam score and 35% for the higher exam score)


Midterm Exam

Percentiles of the (n=11) midterm exam scores: 25th percentile = 61.5; median = 64; 75th percentile = 76.5


Final Exam

Material for the final exam: Textbook Sections 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.5, 7.6 (excluding the material on the "Method of Moments" and the "EM Algorithm"), 8.5, 8.6, 8.8 (excluding the material on the "Information Inequality" and "Efficient Estimators") and notes from the lectures. Refer to the class schedule for further details.
