Foundations of Applied Mathematics

AMS 211 is a one-quarter course on the basic mathematical methods typically used in Applied Mathematics and many physical and engineering sciences.  See the syllabus for more details on the content. The course is intended for graduate students in Engineering and the sciences and it is designed to be a review/survey course. We assume that all of the students have at least some familiarity with most of the topics covered (e.g., calculus, vector calculus, linear algebra and ODE.s).

We will cover a lot of material in 10 weeks and this means that we will be moving at an accelerated pace. Expect to hit the ground running and keep running all quarter long.
