CMPS164, Spring 2013, Section 01: Grading

This class is a 7 unit class. 5 - lectures and 2 - labs. So, your expectations are higher than your typical 5 unit classes. However, due to the nature of these topics, it is more important for you to have practice buildingsystems rather than only learning concepts. The distribution of lab work and in-class work is not in the 5:2 ratio but is more even.

In-Class Topics (40%)

  • First engine review write-up : 5%
  • Quiz 1: 10%
  • Quiz 2: 10%
  • Second engine review write-up : 10%
  • Class forums participation/discussion : 5%

Labs (60%)

  • Lab work done in pairs
  • 5 assigned lab exercises (50%: 10 each)
  • 1 mini project (10%)

At the end of the quarter, you will get a combined grade out of 100 from which your class and lab grade will be split according to the following calculations.

Class Grade : in-class + labs/2 = 70% but with higher weight of in-class performance

Lab Grade    : grade only for the lab portion
