Game Design Studio I

Game Design Studio I (CMPS 170) is the first course in a three quarter-long project sequence in which students work in teams to create a large substantial computer game.

The primary goal of the class is for students to rapidly develop a wide range of novel game design concepts, then select a small subset of these ideas that will be further developed into complete working computer game. Course activities center on techniques and exercises for creative game brainstorming, presentation and evaluation of game pitches, and prototyping game concepts.

Lectures are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2pm-3:45pm, in Merrill 102. Class will also be held on some Saturdays during the quarter, 10am-12noon, in the Engineering Auditorium (Baskin 101).

Sections are held Monday, 12:30-1:40pm, in Engineering 2, 194, and Friday, 8am-9:10am, also in Engineering 2, 194. Section attendance is required, and involves a graded assignment performed during section.
