Digital storage systems are becoming the primary keepers of the world's information. They store the crown jewels of enterprises, the cultural heritage of our civilization, and personal records such as photos, correspondence, and movies. Storage systems also tend to dominate the performance and reliability in computer systems -- from personal laptops to the largest computer systems in the world.
